Thu, 5 August 2010 A presentation to the York Business Forum by Anthony Day. Why reduce your carbon footprint? Government pressure - supplier pressure - consumer pressure - and improved efficiency saves money! Carbon footprint is closely linked to energy and this podcast reviews UK energy policy in light of the 27th July statement to Parliament by Chris Huhne, Secretary of State. The model balancing energy supply and demand is published on the website of the Department for Energy and Climate Change here. We look at 4 scenarios; you can manipulate the model for yourself and see how changing each factor changes the outcome. We also look at the Climate Change Action Plan for York published in the same week. Both the national and the York plan are open for consultation until 30th September. How do we reduce the carbon footprint? Low-hanging fruit - the second stage - staff engagement What of the future? The CRC Energy Efficiency Scheme is an immediate concern for medium energy users (>£0.5m annual electricity) Cyber Associates helps clients comply, avoid penalties and optimise their position. Is CRC just a game? Is Disaggregation the answer? Is the Performance League Table a red herring? Read on...
At last Thursday’s London Low Carbon Best Practice Exchange Anthony Day addressed these issues and more. He spoke in detail about the Early Action Metric, the Performance League Table and Recycling Payments. We discussed Disaggregation, the Safety Valve and the Second Market. We came to the conclusion that by the time we get to the capped phase it will no longer be any sort of game. CRC is not just another tax that you pay and forget. CRC will change your behaviour, your business outlook and your business model. As the football manager said,"Life or death? It's much more serious than that!" If you would like a copy of the slides and the notes accompanying this presentation please email acd@cyber-associates.com. Duration 54 minutes. Comments[0] |
Wed, 21 April 2010 Anthony Day discusses the latest developments in CRC now that the central registry is open. Is your organisation liable as a full participant or do you need simply to make an information disclosure? What is "disaggregation" and how can this affect your liability - and workload? What about the league table? Why do some AMRs give benefits under the Early Action Metric and others don't? What happens if you miss the September 30th deadline, or just choose to ignore it? Listen in for answers to these and many other questions! Comments[0] |
Tue, 6 April 2010 Conversation with Shourjo Sarkar on BBC Radio Leeds. Can you buy an electric car? How far will it go on a charge? Can't we just change the batteries? What is a plug-in hybrid? If Boris Johnson wants to install 25,000 charging points in London, what will it cost? Comments[0] |
Mon, 11 January 2010 The government has launched the Carbon Reduction Commitment - a carbon trading scheme for medium-sized organisations. In this session Anthony Day explains who will be liable, how they must register and how your company can benefit.
