When British prime minister Harold Macmillan was asked by a journalist what was most likely to blow governments off course, he responded "Events, dear boy, events."
He wasn't talking exactly about the shows, exhibitions and conferences that we class as events, but there's still no doubt that a bad event - an event which is not as sustainable as it should be, for example - can blow its sponsoring organisation seriously off course.
This week I went to a sustainable event and I also learnt from sustainable expert Fiona Pelham, author of Making Events More Sustainable: A Guide To BS8901- available from your favourite bookshop.
